PUFFY TACOS SAN ANTONIO STYLE!! STEP BY STEP ❤

Ingredients

2 cups masa harina

1 1/4 cups warm water

1/2 tsp salt

Oil for frying

1 lb ground beef (or your preferred protein)

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin
-
1/2 tsp paprika
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp pepper
-
Shredded lettuce
-
Diced tomatoes
-
Shredded cheese
-
Salsa or hot sauce (optional)
Instructions

Prepare the dough:
Mix masa harina, salt, and warm water until a soft dough forms. Rest for 10 minutes. -
Shape the shells:
Divide dough into small balls and press into thick tortillas (slightly thicker than regular). -
Fry the tortillas:
Heat oil. Fry each tortilla until it puffs. Use tongs to fold into a taco shape and fry until golden. Drain on paper towels. -
Cook the filling:
In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned.
Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 3–4 minutes. -
Assemble:
Fill each puffy taco shell with beef.
Add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa as desired.
Notes / Tips

Dough must rest so the shells puff properly.

Oil needs to be hot enough to make the tortillas expand.

You can substitute chicken, beans, or shrimp for the filling.
