MY ALL AROUND SEASONING

MY ALL AROUND SEASONING

Today I’m sitting down because I’m sharing one of the most-used recipes in my kitchen: my homemade taco seasoning. This is a seasoning I’ve perfected over many years by adding, subtracting, doubling, and adjusting until it became just right.

Even though I call it “taco seasoning,” I use it for so much more. It’s perfect for tacos, enchiladas, crispy tacos, chicken, beef, pork, and even fish. Once you make this, you’ll never need to buy store-bought seasoning again.

I always keep it on hand in mason jars, labeled and ready to go. You can store it in any container you like—just make sure it’s airtight.

Total Time

5 minutes

Yield

About ½ cup seasoning

Ingredients

  • 2½ tablespoons chili powder

  • 1½ teaspoons garlic powder

  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder

  • ¾ teaspoon oregano

  • 1½ teaspoons paprika
(smoked paprika works great if you have it)

  • 1½ tablespoons ground cumin

  • 2½ teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl or directly into a mason jar.

  2. Close tightly and shake well until fully combined.

  3. Label the jar “Taco Seasoning.”

  4. Store in a cool, dry place.

That’s it—your seasoning is ready to use.

How to Use

  • Tacos (beef, chicken, fish)

  • Enchiladas

  • Burritos

  • Pork dishes

  • Ground meat recipes

  • Roasted vegetables

Start with 1½–3 tablespoons per pound of meat, then adjust salt and pepper to taste while cooking.

Notes & Tips

  • You can use any store-bought chili powder if you don’t have homemade.

  • Keeping salt slightly lower allows you to adjust later in the dish.

  • This seasoning stays fresh for months when stored properly.

  • Double or triple the recipe if you cook often.
