Ingredients
For the Salisbury Steaks

1 lb lean ground sirloin

1/3 tsp onion powder

1/3 tsp garlic powder

Salt & pepper to taste

1/2 tsp beef bouillon

1 egg
-
2 minced garlic cloves
-
1/4 cup finely diced onion

1 tbsp ketchup
-
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 tsp dry mustard (or Dijon/yellow mustard)

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Onion Mushroom Gravy

1 tbsp olive oil
-
2 tbsp butter
-
1/2 large onion, sliced
-
2 green onions, chopped
-
2 minced garlic cloves
-
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
-
2 tbsp flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 1/2 tsp Kitchen Bouquet (browning agent)

Salt & pepper to taste
How to Make Classic Salisbury Steak
1. Mix the Steak Mixture

Add ground beef to a large bowl.

Sprinkle in onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and beef bouillon.

Add egg, minced garlic, finely diced onions, ketchup, panko, dry mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.

Mix gently with your hands — do not overwork the meat.
2. Shape into Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 portions.

Form into oval-shaped patties and set aside.
3. Brown the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the steaks and brown for about 2½ minutes per side.

Remove patties and drain excess grease.
4. Make the Gravy

Add butter to the same pan.

Sauté onions and green onions until translucent.

Add minced garlic and cook 1 minute.

Add mushrooms and cook 2–3 minutes.

Stir in flour, coating everything well.

Pour in beef broth, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.

Add Kitchen Bouquet for color.

Season with salt and pepper and bring to a simmer.
5. Simmer with the Steaks

Return the patties to the pan.

Spoon gravy over them.

Simmer for 2–3 minutes until heated through and fully cooked.
